Technology

The Technology department at Leland Public Schools is dedicated to supporting staff, students and their families in pursuit of educational excellence. Our vision is to leverage the power of technology to improve student learning by providing engaging and powerful learning experiences and content, as well as resources and assessments that measure student achievement in more complete, authentic, and meaningful ways.

Students have access to personal technology at LPS in the following ways this year:

Grades 1 to 12 students are each issued personal iPads in rugged cases with a keyboard along with a cable and charger.

Kindergarten students will have access to shared iPads in the classroom.

Why do we choose iPads as student devices?

 - iPads are built to enhance learning

 - iPads make students career ready in the modern world

Content filtering

Leland Public School provides content filtered Internet access to our onsite school network.  Our Internet Provider (Northwest Education Services) utilizes the Securly content filter.

Additionally all iPads issued to students will be installed onboard with the Securly web content filter system to provide content filtering while not on premise on outside networks.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy:

Students in grades 11-12 may use their own laptops or Chromebooks for school, as long as their classroom teachers permit them and the Technology Acceptable Use Policy form has been submitted.

It is still expected that students have their school issued iPads ready for classroom work if requested by any teacher.

We do not add personal phones, tablets, or iPads to the school network.

iPad & Technology Use Fee

We are proud to have a supportive community that has continued to approve a Technology and Bus Bond initiative every few years. This bond gives us the ability to purchase updated technology hardware that helps put devices in the hand of every student and teacher.

We assess a Technology Use fee annually of $25 per student (in grades K-12) to help cover some of the extra associated costs. Expenses such as software, insurance, and administration are not covered by the Technology and Bus Bond.

Please return this form and the fee (if applicable) to the school before we issue the iPad and accessories to your student:
